My buddy borrowed our 2004 Honda F12 and managed to suck up almost the whole 60ft ski rope and wrap it around the shaft. After an hour of dismantling we unwrapped it by turning engine backwards.

It seems to run ok, but when running the pump dry to empty out remaining water after a day of playing I think I hear a whining sound that is new. It starts at about 2000 rpm but is not real loud, the sound itself would not concern me except I think it is a new sound.

Doesl wrapping a rope around jet shaft typically cause any damage

Thanks!

Banging away wiht a hammer, trying to make a notch on top of the screw and I broke a piece off the body where the fuel inlet cover is. Body is SOL>>> Now I need a new body or buy a used carb I can rebuild.

Anyone out there have a Mikuni that would fit this they would like to part with? It is the middle carb and it is the type with the triangle on top. I believe it is a 38mm but it is hard to accurately find this out online. I have attached a pic if anyone can help. Things that I have done

New fuel lines
New plugs gapped correctly
New battery
Cleaned fuel filter and replaced o ring
Rebuilt carbs 4 times now even had a place do them I forgot a gasket in the carb they said that's why it bogs
But its still bogging,
Good compression 140 and 145 psi
I also bypassed the gas switch its getting plenty off gas maybe to much
Rebuilt top end .5 over I even replaced top end gaskets again thinking of a air leak.
Internal filters are clean I don't know how to tune them or check pop off
It starts in water good now just need to figure this bogging out..
I've been trying to fix it for 2 seasons now and no luck spent to much cash on it aleady I need some help..,

If it is suppose to be cool to the touch and isn;t, any ideas what could be heating it up? I have checked all lines and they seem clear and passable. thanks

The alarm goes off almost immediately after cranking it and won't shut off. The ski belongs to a friend and when they dropped it off they said it had been running hot so they pulled it into the ramp with another ski. I was at the lake with them earlier in the day and the buzzer was going nuts but the engine and pipes were cool so I didsconnected it thinking it was broke, but later in the day they said it started running sluggish and then would hardly run. I started investigating the water lines and found one line from the top of the exhaust that runs to the rear of the ski and exits through the exhaust was clogged as well as six inches of the tubing with sand. I tried telling them not to start the skis near shore but as you can see, kids will be kids. I cleaned the line and the fittings blowing air through them and they flow freely now. I tried cranking the ski this evening and it won't run, turns over, and will fire and crank if throttle is wide open but shuts right back down and the buzzer goes off, and it only bogs and never gets a good strong rev up before stalling. Any ideas on where to start looking and what to start looking for? I did pull the carbs down and everything looked good but more worried on the buzzer issue to avoid burning up a motor. There is a rust spot starting on the top of the exhaust also but doesn't leak any water. Oh, and this is a premix ski and I noticed the oil tank was empty, I am just hoping theres enough oil in the case and they didnt hurt something. Help me guys, this isn't mine and just trying to help some friends save some money buy fixing their skis for them.

It was a very quick action made by Katie and we got the problem resolved and all my inquiries taken care of! Awesome business who care about their customers. I also must say their motors are great, ran one of their engines for 2 seasons and i broke a starter bolt off in the case so i swapped cases with a set i had (my warranty had already expired) and when i got the motor tore down....not a single scratch on the cylinder walls, was amazed. Great business to deal with.

Replacing a top end should be done when compression becomes weak and engine performance is not up to par - it’s a way to freshen up an engine that has a lot of time on it.

When repairing the top end of an engine, the case should be pressure checked for leaks.
If there is a leak in the case or through the crank end seals, you will have a lean condition (too much air) that can damage the top end.
Go through the bottom end to ensure it can handle a new top end without destroying it. Everyone would prefer an easier/less expensive fix, but if you take short cuts on your repair your time and money may be wasted.

Using a top end kit is not a fix for zero compression in a cylinder or severe scoring to a cylinder. If you have severe damage to a top end, you should replace the entire engine or use a cylinder exchange kit and go through the bottom end as stated.

Hi all,

New to the forum and jet skis, so go easy on me guys!

Bought a waveraider about 3 months ago and after approx. 15 hours of taking it easy and geting use to skis it decided to spit a rod out the side of the block.

Any way after finding a new engine case and a full engine and carb rebuild from someone that came recommended to us she was once again back on the water, with a few minor tweaks of the carbs she ran great again.

We were near completion of bedding in the new engine last sunday, decided to have some lunch and let the ski rest, but upon our return she would not fire into life what so ever!!!

Starter can be heard spinning but was told by several people on the water that the bendix was not engaging the flywheel to crank the engine.

My question is with the starter spinning is there anything else that it could be other that a bad bendix?

Just spent a small fortune getting a complete rebuild and want to know a cost before i get the work done.

Any input, suggestions or help as to what to check to rule out would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys:smile:
