It wouldn't be the first time someone told me his TS was the best on the water!

Like I said, to each his own.

I have personally demo'd the Honda's. Even in stock form they are a fun ride. Speed wasn't quite up there yet, but the ski performed flawlessly for a demo. I would recommend one to anyone that wants a good, stable ride. Low maintenace and lots of hours on the water... can't beat it!

Cool Re: How do the Honda's rank?

bought a R12X two months ago to replace a kawi STX1100R.
out of the hole the honda lacks a bit...IN EVERY OTHER AREA THE HONDA ROCKS!!!:) :) :) :) :) :) :)
I ride offshore and like to jump waves.....Honda has the STX hull stability, the mileage of an economy car, top end of 67, good center of gravity for jumping, nice looks, and handles like a sports car even in the chop!:)

Iím petty sure I know more than Most when it comes to the Honda Skis. They are made 25 miles from my work and I know a few engineers on the HW1 (F12) and HW3 (R12) projects.

First off, they are very reliable, The turbo is NOT the lowest part of the ski (see pix,its about mid way up) the ecu is not the lowest part of the ski either. Its near the top on the R12 and mid way on the hull on the F12. There was NO recall on failing hoods seals (the ski will NOT sink even if you fill it up completly with water, there is too much floatation) and the throttle was updated 3 monthís after release to add a grease port.

I make a Kit that raises the HP on the Honda from 165 stock to 208 hp (dyno proven) and there are quite a few around the country that are running fine. Point being, Honda did not push the 1230 cc motor to the limit. It should last a long time.

The top speed of the stock ski is (GPS) 59-60 F12x and 62-63 R12x

All my info is verified, as Iíve been involved with both the HW1 and HW3 skis since they were released to the public. not trying to make this a flame feast, just getting the FACTs straight..

    Want more info, email me.

Interesting comments. Honda is a world leader in engine technology. Its hard to imagine that their watercraft is that bad.

Honda watercraft owners, please let us know.

It's not bad at all - mechanically. But come on - they had zero PWC experience, and it shows. The ride and speed is just way off from the rest of the pack. Oh well, that's probably why they aren't selling well either, and why you hardly ever see them on the water compared to others.

I can't speak for the competing skis (STX-15F, FX HO, RXT), but my new '04 F-12X is an absolute blast to ride. I have ridden a 12F, so I know what that hull rides like. I prefer the Honda. It's not the fastest on the water, but it's got plenty of speed for me. I think the hull is exceptionally playful for a 3-seater, better than all the other 3-seaters mentioned above from what I've read. I understand that the 15F handles chop better, and stays hooked up better, but at the price of a harsher ride. The Honda hull gives a softer ride and is more playful.

The only complaint I have is that the F-12X is slow out of the hole, but once the turbo kicks in, in about 1 second, then it accelerates well. You don't want a Honda if drag racing is your thing. At least not in stock form.

Ergonomically, it's extremely comfortable. The handlebars, the seat, everything, just fits me really well. I've ridden 9 hrs. on mine so far, and can't wait for the next 500 or so. My wife is super pleased with the ride as a passenger, as well.

I am not the racer type. I prefer cruising with an occasional WOT burst. If you're a hard core racer who keeps the throttle pinned much of the time you ride, then don't get a Honda. If, on the other hand, you spend a lot of time just riding around exploring different places, jumping a few waves or boat wakes and just taking in the sites, and maybe some towing, then the Honda is tops in my book.

At cruising speeds, it is also the most fuel efficient of the above mentioned skis. Just stay out of the turbo, and it sips fuel sparingly. At WOT, though, it burns slightly more than 12 gph, compared to the 15F's 10 gph.

Just some of my thoughts as a new owner. Personal impressions of jetskis are going to vary widely from person to person. Your riding style, what you want to accomplish, your ego, etc., all play into what ski you should buy. Buy what you like, not what everyone else thinks you should have.
