I'm not sure if you are looking at the right marks, but just line them up so the weights are in the same positions - crank and counter weights on the same end should both be down or up - get it?

I just got my crank back from SBT and it looks great. One small problem though, The line on the crank does not line up perfectly with the mark on the balance shaft. Maybe I am looking at the wrong mark. The crank has a line on it, a very light line but the only line I can find. The balance shaft has a small dish like in the balance web that I assume is the mark. The way the teeth are arrange, I can not center the line with the dish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a plan. I am just wondering if I am one tooth off will my engine vibrate and run like crap. Since I bougth it new in 1998 I have change a motor mount every year.
Many times I find that the lines do not align correctly. I go by the center of the crankpins. I align the centerline of the crankpin with the mating surface of the case half. Then aling the counterbalancer shaft with the other side of the case half so that it is centered on the counterbalancer weight.
If you do it this way, you don't need any lines at all.
