Thank you for the kind words CC.
But I have only grudge raced for a few years and when I did compete in IJSBA competition last year could only pull off a #5 in closed course and a #4 in slalom overall. That is not strong enough to bump up to a pro.
I enjoy promoting the sport and getting new riders into it. And I only give technical advice on issues I do know about. I will make a move up when I feel I am ready for it.
Just renewed my comp card last nite and decided to remain a novice for now.

I'm with paul on the topic of 2 stroke vs 4 stroke. 2-stroke engines are way easier to rebuild and work on. There is nothing to them. PWC's are the only engines I can think of that are run at redline for hours on end. Under such extreme conditions rebuilds are a fact of life. I don't think the 4 strokes are going to be any more reliable. But I do know they will cost more to fix! Direct injection on 2-strokes makes a 4 stroke even less attractive for a pwc. DI closes the gap on fuel efficiency and environmental impact. Factor in the added weight and cost, and the concept of a 4 stroke pwc starts looking like a bad idea. Say, wasn't it the politicians and tree huggers that forced four strokes onto pwc's in the first place?
My 97hx has over 300 hrs on it and the motor is still solid. Now for those driveline problems...

Thanks a lot for the shared opinion. At least you are one guy who knows what his talking about.
I still believe that the simplier it is... the easier to keep it running. Its like cars and trucks, you can fix a carburator on the trail with the simpliest tools.... BUT... try fixing an EFI system malfunction on the trail... and you will understand what i mean.
If you can run it legally... get a carburated two stroke for watercraft. On the road, get the latest 4 stroke EFI, computerized everything!!! There are no buses, cabs, or trains in the lake and the ocean, so you have to SWIM home, in case your fully computerized ultra complicated and modern 4 stroke PWC dies in the middle of nowhere!!!! hehehehe

It makes it *more* reliable. It will never be bullet-proof. The crank design is the next big weakness, and there is no good way to beef it up.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

SEADOO 100% as somone who works on all PWC i see the problems with all of them , the doo is the easyest to get parts for ,cheepest to fix , more dealers where ever you go { some you dont want to go to BUT there there . they have the best riding hulls , more power CID to CID then any other make out there . and yamaha parts are always on back order :-(
when it comes to a 4 stroke vs 2stroke if your out of warranty you better hope you have a 2 stroke cuz the 4 will drain the bank account when it blows { it will blow }PRIDE IN SERVICE<br /> <img src="http://www.sbtontheweb.com/images/forposts/4609/1.jpg" alt=" - " />
