• 2000 GP 760,

Looking for 2000 GR760 specs and pics. Sounds like maybe what I'm after. Fair price too (3999 w/ 85 hrs), just a two hour drive from here!
Any thing good bad about the 760? Is it as bullet-proof as the XL700?

Thanks,
98 ProCraft F/S 115 Mariner
00 Yamaha GP760 ...............STOLEN!!!

Was 2000 the last year for the GP760?
I take it the 760 does not have a weak link in the power valves, as the 800's? (I think that's what I've read)! Is that all 800's GP, XL, XLT?

SBT Tech Support has been VERY helpfull!
Are there ant mods that can/should be done to the 760? For Fuel efficiency, HP, ride, etc...
The specs say 10 gallons per hour @ WOT! Is that average to skis of similar type?

10/hr is actually pretty low.

Yes there are a number of mods for the 760 platform, especially in the GP. No there is nothing to make it more effiecient, other than radical porting.

There are carb mods, reeds, electical mods, ride plate, intake grate, sponsons, heads, etc. - just about everything but a pipe for it. Try www.pro-tecperformance.com

Soem 760's exhibited a tendancy to detonate on the rear cylinder. As a measure against it Yamaha runs a slightly larger CC dome on the rear to keep it cooler. It stems from the factory cranks twisting slightly. The twin Yamaha crank design is at it's limit in the 760. We true ours better and weld them to avoid the issue.

Final update- I bought the ski! It's in the garage already washed, waiting for wax.

Thanks again EVERYONE for your input during my decision making!

Hmmmmm... What should the cylinder compression read when a compression check is done???

Hey! There is nothing wrong with KANSAS!! HEHE I didn't even know Chanute had a dealer there. Guess I never thought about looking at a different make to look at used skis.
