  • Oil injection disable

I got a 1990 TS 650 with no history. Mine has no oil tank and somebody told me to add injection oil to the front cover where the flywheel is... I don;t see an injection pump either, were is that thing located? What is involved in switching to a premix setup?

Please do not email and post for answers - here is a copy of what I already sent you:

The oil pump was on the flywheel cover on the front - driven off the end of
the crank nut. There should NOT be any oil added to the flywheel cavity,
your dealer is on crack. If you have no pump you need to pre-mix the fuel
50:1. The harness should not be loose - the flywheel cavity must be sealed
    against water intrusion.

I have parted out a couple of TS and have all the parts you would need if you wanted to put the oil injection back on. However, I am guessing your ski has already been converted to pre mix. If that is the case the easiest thing to do is stay with pre mix.

He didn't say a "dealer" told him to put oil in the flywheel cover area. Although I agree, whoever told him this IS on crack ("Hey, there's a hole there, it must be someplace to put oil!!")

Mackster: kindly tell whoever gave you this great info they need to do a little more research on PWCs before someone with a broken machine rips them a new one for their "help". And till they do, don't listen to them again, it may cost you big $$$s.

This is what he emailed me:

          Hi

I am new to the Jet Ski world. I have had my Ford powered Jet Boat for
20 years. My Mother ran across a 1990 TS 650 and brought it ot me to
check out. I have a couple of questions.

I tested engine and it fired right away with a prime. I do not see an
          oil tank anywhere....
I called a local Kawasaki shop and the guy told me to add oil to the
          front cover....
I was leary about that because I see a flywheel in there. I added oil
and it ran out the bottom.

I pulled the engine out to see whats up, and found a harnes had been
pulled loose from the seal in the case. I also noticed that there is a
little cover in the front of the case just below the plug in the front
cover. Has the oil injection pump been removed? Should there be oil
          in the flywheel section?

Mom didn't get any info on this rig. Any info would be appriciated.

          Thanks

          Bob

              Re: Oil injection disable

Thanks you guys for the help. I'll clean up the mess the oil caused and put this thing together. I'm glad now that the oil I put in the front cover ran out, who knows what I could have got into..... I have alot of fun with my v8 powered, B impeller jet, Mom doesn't like it much. Maybe this will pasify her..ha ha..
              Thanks again! :emoticont
