Among a bunch of stand-ups I own, I have an '85 550 that is bone stock in terms of the motor (was rebuilt a couple years ago), except for a Kirker pipe set-up and a waterbox. Still has the orig 38 mm Mikuni carb. Runs fine, but doesn't seem to launch as well as it used to. Could the timing have slipped and if so, how do you adjust ignition timing on a stock 85 550 ? Could I bump it a little for more power out of the hole if the motor were starting to get a little tired ? I don't do a lot of WOT operating, just cruising with this one. But I'd like it to launch a little better without going to a prop. Any help anyone ? Thanks.
