89 650 X2 no rpm

What could be the cause of a low power low RPM condition on the X2? It starts good, seems to heat both cylinders, idles normally, when trying to ride and accellerate, it wont pick up speed and barely runs well enough to move, but wont get up on the water. Sounds smooth, just weak. I tried on reserve and 'on' fuel valve position. Seems like lack of fuel but no popping or backfiring, plugs not wet when pulled. Nothing was adjusted or changed on the machine, it just started doing this.

So far I have; replaced plugs, checked fuel flow from pump (there are nice heavy pulses of fuel from outlet line while cranking) checked carb, diaphram is good, needle and seat are sealing and popping crisply, (although I havenet done a pop test yet) jets clean, intake gaskets look good.

What am I missing?

Sounds like it cant breath, check exhaust for colapsing hoses or damaged water box, Take waterbox out and shake it to see if it is falling apart on the inside.
