  • 98 SLH low rpm bog

I had a problem all last summer, and I just dealt with it. I want it fixed now.

There is a problem with fuel at low rpms. It doesn't idle very well (needs choke and constant attention to throttle and choke to idle), and it needs choke until it gets into "the pipe" for lack of a better term. Also, power at high rpms is lower than it used to be, it doesn't want to rev above 6700 or so, where 6900 or 7000 was the old norm at WOT.

The engine is in great shape, an SBT unit installed not too many hours ago after an oil pump failure. Compression is 110-115 on both cylinders.

I took the carbs to the Polaris dealer in Boring, OR and they went through them with a few new gaskets and what not, but they said nothing in the carbs suggests why it runs the way it does.

I can't find any leaks in the engine gaskets or anything like that. I'm to the point where I either take it to someone and pay, or start replacing parts. Neither are cheap.
