  • Battery drain issue and question

1996 SL 900 battery drains too low to have enough voltage to start the ski in about 2 days. I'm trying to track down the problem, but I have one question. Should the yellow wire coming from the stator always have 12v to it? If I remember reading a different thread, the LR module is supposed to turn on the 12v to the yellow stator wire.

    Thank, Cory

Re: Battery drain issue and question

The yellow wire from the lr 23 should carry power from the stater to the reg/rectifier, then it chargers the battery, the orange wire will provide power to the cdi when the motor is running. The lr acts like a switch and may be back feeding battery voltage to the stater and causing a battery drain.

So, should the yellow wire coming from the stator always have 12v coming from it when the machine is not running?

No, sounds like its back feeding 12 volts

I have no battery drain with the yellow stator wire unplugged. Will a new LR module fix this issue?

Re: Battery drain issue and question

It should as long as the cdi is working properly and there is no testing procedure for that.
