96 GTX fuel issue

I have a 96 GTX, just ordered a new 787 motor. The problem i was wondering about is that when i am riding i have to keep the fuel selector on reserve, when it is in the "on" position it seems to start to surge, go back to reserve runs fine. Any hints on where to start. Have replaced all the hose clamps from the fuel tank back with screw type. Havent gone into the tank yet, was told that the reserve goes deeper then the "on" side. Could it be sucking air or what ?

Sounds like you have blockage between selector and the fuel tank. Remove valve and verify it is clean, replace if necessary. Check for holes in fuel line. Are fuel lines clear, if not replace.

replace the fuel valve your problem will go away .
