I have 97 Seadoo Challenger with 787 engine. The other day I took it to the dealer, JOA in Atlanta GA since the boat has been sitting for a few years and not running. They diagnosed and told me it need carb rebuild and accelerator pump changed.
JOA estimated 3.5 hr labor plus part ($150) for carb rebuild. And 1.5 hr labor plus 2 pumps ($64 each). Plus $98 for diagnosis. By the way they charge $100/hour for their labor. Totaling around $900.
Here is the part I am questioning. When you say you rebuild carb. isn't that include rebuilding pump? Is serving on pump supposed to be charged separately like JOA did? If they put new pump in, do they supposed ask for additional labor charge?
Now, I am thinking about doing it myself. How difficult is the work? Do kits come with instruction? I am pretty good working on cars.
