• 93 XP Problem, No Power (electrical) ?

    Ok guys,

I have a 93 XP that was tuned up two years ago and never used again. Well i put a new battery in today and it does nothing. It's like there is not even a battery in it. The gas gauge won't move when ya push the button, no starter turn over...nothing... Is there a fuse somewhere or something. I have never actually worked on one of these things

anyone have any sugestions on what to check or replace to fix it. It's on a lift so i can't even get it on a trailer

    Thanks for any hints

    W

There is an electrical box (follow the plug wires) with fuses in it - try those first.

check the ground wire , there short on that ski and break very easy . clean all contacts it sounds like a drity connection . before you start the ski , grease the though hull fitting and PTO , sitting that long they could be dry .also check all hoses for cracking take very close inspection of the oil lines on the intake .

          Well,

I got to the electronics box and the 5 amp fuse was blown. It is the one on the half of the box that all the wires go into and is mounted along with a 15 amp fuse on some type of epoxyed module. It's next to a voltage regular "looking" component. so I pop another 5 amp fuse in, blew instantly, tried a 15 just to see what it would do and it blew instantly. So, i'm thinking some component in here is causing this, any ideas ???

          Thanks for the help....

could be your stator is shorted , you did check to make sure the battyer is not hooked up backwards i hope ? somthing to try is to disconnect the trim /all guages then put in a fuse , if it dont pop then plug in one that at a time . you will find the problem as soon as you plug it in :) you can oms test the stator the check for a short , or just pull the cover and flywheel , if its rusty you can bet thats it . also try unpluging the rectifire , if all dont work your mpem is toast :-(

Is stator the same as starter? or is there something else your refering to, trust me i don't know. I'm more of a computer and auto guy :D

PS: battery IS hooked up right... won't go but one way anyway due to the short ground cable :D

stator not starter , the stator is under the flywheel .
