  • FX 140 Hull material ?

What kind of material is the FX 140 hull made of?
Is it a special fiberglass mix compared to regular boats or watercraft?
What kind of material should I use to repair damaged hull?

It's SMC Sheet Molded Compond - it's repaired with marine epoxy kits.

      Thanks for the response.
What is Sheet Molded Compound? How is it manufactured? How does Yamaha make the hull shape?
      How do you repair it?
Marine Epoxy, is it different from polyester resin?
Can you use the polyester resin with the marine epoxy? Which is stronger?

No you cannot mix the two. Repair procedures are almost identical. It's a mix of fiber material in epoxy instead of gelcoat and poly resin. It's drawn over the mold at high temp and vaccuum at the factory.

To repair the hull I need to get fiberglass cloth or mesh?
Then I grind out the spots then start filling back in hull in a series of steps?
How many multiple times show I apply coats for holes that go all the way through the hull?
I have multiple holes and severe damage to the hull.
