  • Xi 750 hard starting

My 750cc Xi 1997 runs very well but it is very hard to start when cold, it takes about 10 times before it fires & if I do this in the water the battery goes flat, what can I do to make it easier to start?

Install a Primer, and make sure your low speed screws are set correctly, and your idle speed is high enough.

Installing a Primer is a solution.
The idea is to prime the engine when it is cold.
Before installing a primer, the best is to clean the carbs to make sure that the problem is not there.
Anyway, Kawasakis are hard to start when they are cold.
In my case (I have a two seats 1998 750 XiSport), the hard starting problems were solved after a deep carbs cleaning and adjustment.
In spite of this, the first start in a riding day, I prime the engine for easy start, to save battery, brushes and health. As I need no more priming the rest of the day, I decided not to install a primer kit. I pour a small amount of gas + oil in the Air intake for instant start.
The rest of the day, the engine starts immediatelly, even without choke, no matter how long the engine was resting.
