Sent the pump and parts to Dave at impros today and ordered a new driveshaft kit. Apparently they changed the design in 98 and a new coupler will accompany the shaft. My new question is how do you get the old coupler off of the crank?

      Chain wrench.

Chain Wrench? Is that what you use to hold the crank stationary while removing? I'm having trouble with the couple just wanting to spin.

Use a chain wrnech to grip the coupler - to bind up the engine, put some rope down a plug hole to stop up a piston.

Does the coupler unscrew clockwise or counter if you are facing the front of the boat? I don't want to over torque it the wrong way?

It's a normal thread. If you are looking at the coupler, turn it counter-clockwise.

Finally worked (big cheater bar). Thanks for all of the help. I'll probably be back for more info when all of the new/rebuilt parts arrive.

                Thanks again you've been great.
