Just bought a TS that needs work for almost nothing The motor appears bone-stock with no hull or sponson mods. It came with broken intake grate and exhaust hanger bracket (which I've replaced). What concerns me is that it also came with many of the exhaust-to-manifold and sound attenuator-to-carburettor bolts sheared or missing. I can replace most of them just fine, but want to know if it is unusual to see this kind of failure in a fairly low hours ride. Also, one of the attenuator bolts has hogged the tapped hole in the mag-side carb wide open Is it possible to weld the hole closed and re-tap or do I need a new mixing body? Or can I run with three out of four bolts torqued to spec

No you can't just use 3 of the 4 bolts, and whether you can repair it or not just depends on how much material you have left - if there's enough to bite, sure go for it. No that's not a common problem to have.

Use a 'heli coil' in the hogged hole.
