      I've got my 900 apart right now. The peice appears to have a metal plate inside surrounded by rubber.

      Seems like taking the motor apart is a lot of work for such a small problem. Maybe he could get by with just taking a piece of plastic, metal, wood, etc... as a patch and use the RTV sealant to hold it in place??? Of course, running your motor could easily vibrate off the patch and make your ski run lean, also doing damage to the motor. It's your call!

      IMHO, solder may work IF your plate does contain metal, and IF your confident in your skills, but if any falls inside your crankcase, then you have a much bigger problem!
