Re: Tech 22 - Alligator Point

I know this would cost you on fuel for no gain to your business, but it would be interesting for you to run identical engines with say the cheapest oil you can get and one with the a high quality oil. There is always so much discussion on oil it would be cool to see some actual testing.

We did some similar tests, mainly to verify the need for some such as XPS-II in DI skis, etc. No, we have no interest in spending tens of thousands of dollars to test other people's products.

when you do these tests. Should we all assume you are buying brand new skis and running them til they die? Or do you have used ones with old motors then run them?? You know what would be funny... Buy a new ski, run it til it dies. Prob 5 or 6 years of normal use which you can do in a fea days.. then send it back for warranty work. see what they do

They are all brand new skis. In fact we have a Polaris for sale right now in the For Sale section that we didn't end up needing - 6.9 hours on the clock.

Re: Tech 22 - Alligator Point

Is SBT involved with four-stroke engines?

I'm curious how SBT compares to a huge OEM company like American Honda. They have quite a reputation for engine reliability in almost a dozen applications.

P.S. Do you get many hours from any of those gators? :D

Yes we are very involved with 4 stroke engines, and have several in R&D right now, that will be ready for sale later this year (Yamaha and Sea-Doo). We will offer more if there is demand.

Re: Tech 22 - Alligator Point

OEM four-stroke power plants have only been available for a few years, right? They are SUPPOSED to last much longer than their two-stroke cousins. What would be the reason to install an aftermarket four-stroke engine so soon?

Re: Tech 22 - Alligator Point

The same reason most 2-strokes are replaced - user error.

Ouch! I did not know that was the reason for most engine replacements.
