    Re: Winterization Instructions

Is antifreeze necessary on my 98 1100 ZXi? This is the first year with my skis and I'm in a freezing climate and a little worried about taking care of them (93 XP, 98 ZXi) properly.

      Re: Winterization Instructions

Only some Sea-Doo's require it in some climates.

Gold Eagle is popular - every auto store, Wal-Mart, K-Mart - whatever - has them.

              Re: Winterization Instructions

SBT Tech, regarding the fuel for winter storage, I understand about running Sta-bil in the fuel. But is it better to have the tank full or as empty as possible. I know in cars they say full is better to prohibit the formation of condensation. Same idea as well for PWC's? Thanks.

                Re: Winterization Instructions

Tanks should b full, to minimize the exposed area of tank to air, thus eliminating condensation inside the tank and water contamination.

i dont agree with the full tank for storing skis or boats , its much better to fill the tank with fresh fuel in the spring .

                    Re: Winterization Instructions

Yes fresh fuel is better - but that has nothing to do with the fact that the tank is better off without air inside it.

The very best thing is to fill the tank, and put it in your car in the spring.

Tech Support you say not to run the engine dry of fuel as it can cause damage. My SD owners manual says to run the engine dry of fuel by turning off the fuel selector anytime it is not going to be used for a couple of days.

                      Should I stop doing this?

                      Thanks.

                        Re: Winterization Instructions

yes running the carbs dry is very bad , you will burn off the gas but the water if any will stay in the carbs the only possable way to remove water from a carb is to take the carb apart .

running carbs dry is very old school its the way they use to do boats also , the same for filling your fuel tanks for winter storage { very old school } you need to figure most people leave there skis on the dock or trailor in the hot summer sun mosty emtey at the end of the day . so leaving your tank low on fuel for the winter when the ski is inside or wraped up will not buildup water in the fuel . also a lot of states have crappy OXYfuel by the time you winterize . that you dont want left in your tank for sure .

                        thats my opinon anyhow
