I managed to wrap a tow rope around my m8's prop.
He has a Kawasaki 1200 SX (3 seater).

With the rope still on, loads of water was getting in.
I have removed the rope but ask if the 'bearing' from the inside to the outside is now damaged and needs replacing or, now that the rope has been removed, will it just be the seal around the bearing needs replacing.

I tried to removed the scoop grate but it is solid against the metal outer with what looks like rust between the two......I thought they should be both stainless?

Does anyone know how I can remove the scoop grate without removing the whole metal plate?
I do not want to pull on it too much as the force might damage the fibreglass.

If I need to replace the bearing, does this involve removing the engine?

Thanks for any help
