  • Oil pump broken

I have a 1995 Sea doo XP which has was running great. I took it in to the dealer for a service and they said that my oil lines looked old and like they might crack soon so I had them change them. When they hooked the lines back up, they said that they could not prime the oil pump because the oil pump was bad and it would not pump properly.
I would like to know if someone could teach me how to prime the pump myself to confirm that it is indeed bad. Does anyone think that the dealer could have not done something right?
If the pump is indeed bad, I am wondering if it can be rebuilt with a new gasket kit and not a full replacement?
    Thanks for your help!

    Sincerely,

    Scott

no real way to check it.......but if ya put a drill on the shaft of the pump and spin it, oil will trickle out.....usually means it's ok, but not a guarantee.

Forget The Pump. Get Rid Of It. They Are More Trouble Than They Are Worth. Go With Pre Mix And Never Worry Again. Sbt Even Recommends Premix. Purchase A Block Off Kit From Them.seen Alot Of Motors Blown Due To Faulty Lines And Pumps That Have Quit.

I disagree........oil pumps are great. The heck with premix, cause your bound to forget to add the oil cause your in a hurry to get on the lake......then kiss that engine goodbye. Check it with a 12 volt or more drill, if oil comes out the little fittings, it's good......just be sure it's calibrated right before you take it back out.

Make sure the air is out of the pump by unscrewing that silver screw right on the front. you trickle a little oil down the carbs, then start the engine with the oil pump lever wide open and watch the oil come up the lines. If you dont see movement within 5-10 sec its bad. If it does run it till it comes out the tubes and your done.
