  • 951 Small end bearings

My 98 Gsx ltd finally blew up after 168 hours! the small end bearings in the mag piston took a tour of the engine. both piston pins had marks on them. the bearings & crank where changed at 80hrs when the previous owner flooded the motor with water and let it sit for 2 weeks. The small end bearings are caged compared to the non caged roller bearings in my 99xpl, could this be the reason they failed the ski is stock and uses the oil pump. Can anyone tell me the possible cause of this failure?

There was no evidence of water in the motor & it appears to be getting oil to both cylinders.

    Thanks

    Rusty
