  • Rave Valves

    Hi, i have a problem with my 1996 GTX that i have written about before.
    the rave valve on the pto cylinder broke (the round flanges that keep it from going in to the cylinder) it wrecked the rings and piston but everything else looks good. parts should arrive from SBT today. my question is the rave mounting surface has some depressions from the broken flange. should i file them out smooth. i realize if i do this i will have to remove an equal amount from the rave valve to prevent interferance from the piston.
    the depressions are .020 or so deep. i also realize that i will have to remove material for the .75mm oversize piston.

    to accurately measure how much to remove from the rave i was going to install the rave in the cylinder and use a straight edge with a feeler gauge to measure the proper clearance between the rave and the cylinder. is this proper or is there a better way.

    thanks in advance

    Re: Rave Valves

    What will you gain by filing the damaged rave seating surface?

    Yes, that is the correct way to figure out how much to take off the rave valve face. .015 is the correct amount on paper.

    1mm=.040

    .75mm=.030 divided by 2=.015
