  • Seadoo Carb Filters

Every time I clean the filters in any seadoo carb there is black residue. The only black material in the system other than the pump diaphrams I know of is the rubber sleeve in the fuel valve. Is this getting past the fuel strainer and if so would another filter be advisable between the strainer and carbs?

    Thanks, John

Change your fuel lines, they may be delaminating.

      Re: Seadoo Carb Filters

Is there any harm in installing a fuel filter in the main fuel line before it gets to the carbs? The carb filters are such a pain to get to it seems like a seperate filter would reduce the frequency of having to pull the carbs off. I just did not know if an extra filter would effect fuel flow.

You already have one, and it's washable.

Where? Are you refering to the sediment strainer / bowl? I already keep that clean. Call me anal but I still would like to see another filter in there if it would not cause any harm.

            Re: Seadoo Carb Filters

You can install a Yamaha watercraft or other carb specific filter - NOT an automotive filter. Bear in mind it will not filter anything the filter already in place does.

Alot of people use an extra filter in their fuel line right before the carbs.

Does the second fuel filter help? If so, what type of filter should be used, one from a boat shop or seadoo shop?

                  Re: Seadoo Carb Filters

Fuel is fuel, does it really matter as long as it flows enough to feed the carbs? But, if you run pre-mix, make sure it has a corse strainer element.
