I'm new to PWCs and Rotax engines...that said, I bought the subject machine, as-is, where-is type of deal. Previous owner installed a SBT motor 2 years ago and ran it very little. He told me it wouldn't start this spring and decided to sell. I checked the compression, 150 psi in both cylinders and good spark at both plugs. Relying on my non-rotary valve expierence with Polaris snowmobiles, I thought some fresh gas and clean carbs would fix the problem...it didn't.
Turns out the rotary valve shaft is stripped. I pulled the engine and removed the top end...everything looks new...very low hour engine.
Appears that it was run without any oil in the oil tank(tank was empty). Oil injection has been removed and oil was mixed with the gas.
Now for a few questions:
1. Any special tricks to pulling the shaft? (I think I can I build my own puller...looks like a simple tool from the pictures I've seen)
2. Should I split the case for cleaning, new seals, etc.?
3. Source for parts?
Advance Thanks!
Rick
