  • 1990 sea doo xp rear cylinder fouling

I was recently given a 1990 sea doo that supposedly only needed an impeller. $520, an impeller and starter later, I find the back cylinder fouls after a very short while. Compression is fine. It's been in the shop for 2 weeks and they don't seem to have any idea what is causing the problem. It almost seems as if is is an intermittent spark. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Re: 1990 sea doo xp rear cylinder fouling

    I have a few ideas.

First clip a quarter inch off that sprkplug wire and reattach the cap, what the heck, do both while you are at it.
If that doesn't fix it, there is a wire harness inside of the mag housing between the cdi and the coil. Replace it, or repair it.
Of course, if the rear crankshaft seal is leaking oil from the rotary valve cavity in the cases into the rear clyinder, it will keep fouling that sparkplug.
    Try the easy stuff first.
