  • Oil Problems

A friend of mine started, and successfully pumped about 1/4 gallon of gas into my oil tank. With the gas in the oil tank I refilled with fresh oil, forced the gas out and ran the engine with success. It later died, after about 15 minutes. It would not start again for more than 10-20 seconds. I left it alone, then removed the tank, drained it, cleaned it and the lines, reinstalled it, fresh oil and started it with success. However, now I don't see oil moving through the line to the engine and when running the engine sounds like it is not lubricated, almost like a 4 stroke with a bad piston bearing. What next? Could I have blown the oil pump? If so where is it? Or did I blow the engine? The engine runs with about 130-140 psi compression. I am afraid to run too long, for fear it is not properly lubricated. What do you suggest?

the compression does not sound good , you do need to bleed out the oil system and get ALL air bubbles out of the line , also whenever bleeding a oil system its a good idea to mix a 50 to1 mix in the fuel tank untill you know the pump is working .

Sounds Like You Have Done Damage. 130-140- Is Not Too Bad On A 951. If The Oil Fuel Mix Was Run Long Enough Then Bearings And Pistons Were Not Lubricated Properly. The Fuel Most Likely Broke Down The Oil Enough To Loose Its Lubrication Properties And Did Damage To Internal Componets.

What are the possible solutions? Rebuild? What should the compression be at? I'm not convinced I ran it long enough to do irrevisible damage. However, I have never really worked on 2 strokes before.

130-140 is NORMAL compression on a 951, so maybe you haven't killed it yet, but maybe you have.

Anytime you drain the oil from all of the oil lines going into the oil pump, you need to use the bleeder screw to prime the pump.

Add oil directly into your gas tank and run the motor ( after bleeding the oil pump) until you visually watch the oil go through the oil lines until they are full.
