  • 580, yellow & white, is this possable?

I have seen a white 580 block that has had all of the electrics and accessories from a yellow motor installed. I'm far from an expert but I had always heard that the yellow and white motors were not interchangable. I don't mean internal parts but the complete motor - just like I got from SBT for my old GTS. Is this thing really gonna run?

I believe that the differences lie in the routing mostly. I believe that all the internals and the electrics will interchange but may want to ask someone more knowledgable than me but I believe that is the differences

the exhaust manifolds are different. Something else to track
down if you just have the short block.

Also IIRC there might be some minor machine work required to put the
yellow front end on the white motor..

No machine work is necessary. If you place the yellow mag housing onto the front of a white motor, you will see that the bolt holes in the cover align with some blank areas that you can tap for the bolts necessary to hold the yellow cover onto the block. It is a piece of cake to adapt.
