  • 1995 Sea Doo GTX

I'm thinking about purchasing one of these as strictly a boat to tow people skiing and tubing with. How reliable are these boats? I had a 94 GTS that I bought brandnew and had nothing put problems with it, kinda scared to jump on this 95 GTX but I think I can get it for less than $1500 so the price is right. What should the compression be at on this boat? Any think to look for? What would you pay for it?

    Thanks

This same dealer also just took a 96 Polaris SLT 780 in on trade and is priced right around the GTX. Which two would you pick and why?

what engine model is the GTX? I have a 97 and its a 787 but pulls up 150 pound skiers no problem. I know someone who has an earlier GTX not sure what year ?93? anyway they pull skiers with it. The start up without RAVE would probley be hard but? If its a 657 id be cautious.

It should have a 657X motor in it. Thats a big pig for a three seater lol. I would go with the polaris personally (even though I am an avid doo lover). The polaris should have a bit more punch than the GTX.

Compression should be around 150-155 psi.

1995GTX has a 657X motor, dual carbs, better pipe. OK for pulling one adult skier at about 30 mph.
But a GTI 720 or GTX 787 would be a much better choice.

I wish there was a GTi or GTX (787) in that price range or I would jump on it. Guess I'll jump on the Polaris. I looked at them today and the GTX looked brandnew but the Polaris looked in good condition not anywhere near as clean as the GTX but.... tough decision..

Thanks for the input. I knowmy 94 GTS would some times pull my 190lbs bud out of the water but it was a hit and miss kinda thing.

Dan, why don't you just wait another month. It's still winter anyhow. If you are not happy with the polaris, don't get it. You should never have to compromise on something that is going to cost you money and time down the road. Hold off a bit, see what else is out there. You will be glad you did.

Had a guy come in here a couple months ago with a $1200.00 1997 GTX. It even ran good. I told him he got a good deal.

                  Bill,
If you see another one of those let me know I'd be willing to drive to pick up. Man what a steal!! Did he get it from a dealer or private party? Assuming private party?

Private party. They are out there, you just have to look hard enough and be ready to buy with cash.
