95 xp oil pump removal

I have just brought another 95 xp and the last owner had converted it to pre-mix. He has left the old pump on and said that the pump shaft and nylon gear had been removed. Is it going to cause problems and should I really install a block off plate?

No. as long as he removed the gear, you will be fine.
