  • hard start 750 STS

I was having trouble starting my 750 STS, so I used starting fluid to start it for approx 10 to 15 starts. I have found out since then that starting fluid is not good for a 2 stroke engine. I found the source of my problem, and now the engine starts fine using the choke (I replaced the choke valves). My question is what kind of damage may have been done from the starting fluid? Also, a friend told me to use a product called Powertune, and that will make the engine run better. Is it safe to use Powertune in my engine?

You most liekly didn't damage anything, unless you had to use a great amount of the fluid each time. The problem with using it is, there is no lubricating oil in it, so you are starting the engine without oil on the bearings. Short term, normal starting (squirt, start) is ok.

Do not use any additives with a PWC engine.
