  • I got my standup 550 ski today, a few questions...

first off what do I need to do to it before taking it out?

I will change the jet pump oil and air filter, plugs, and wires, battery.

Are there fittings on the driveshaft I need to grease like on my seadoo? also what kind of oil should I use in it to mix? is pennzoil okay at walmart? what is the correct mixing ratio? It has synthetic oil in it now with 50 to 1 ration and the guy i got it from said it was a lil rich, but he only got to ride it for a short time.

I ended up getting it for $320!!!!!!!!
and it has been indoor storage since 95, we drained all the oil and gas and put fresh stuff in and it fired right up, took the head off and the walls and pistons look brand new. Comp was 130 psi on each cyl.

Sorry for rambling on, tell me what I should do Thanks

There is no pump oil. It uses grease.

50/1 ratio on mix. 1 grease fitting on the bearing housing behind the coupler. Grease inside the rear pump cone. Unless any water contamination inside pump bearings it should be ok. You can pull the cone to check. Be sure the water seperator/fuel filter is clean also.

I have not done it yet I just got the ski, wondering if it uses the grease gun or not? how much should I pump in if this is correct?

Re: I got my standup 550 ski today, a few questions...

i would pump grease until you see grease come out of the exhaust.........................lol............... sorry, i had to do that.

any grease will work. depending on what year model 550 u got depends on how many grease spots. my 550sx does not have a zerk fitting on the driveshaft seal carrier like the js models do. there is a little cone inside the jet pump that takes a hex wrench to remove. take it off and see if there is any water. if no water or grease is not white, pump a few shots of grease and put the cap back on.

other than that just run the dog out of it. if somthings wrong, you'll find out real quick. u got fresh gas, fresh oil, fresh grease, good compression, sounds like the only thing left to do is ride it.
