I have recently refurbished a couple of '88 and 89' WR500 Yamaha's. The drive trains and pumps are good but the steering cable assemblyis a little rusty. Do you have to replace the whole assembly or can you replace cable inside? I have a repair manual for the PWC's but no mention of steering cable assembly. I am not sur how to remove the steering cable from where it exits the hull by the pump. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ray

Re: Steering Cable assembly WR500
The cable must be replaced as an assembly. Remove the plastic nut holding the cable where it exits the rear of the hull and remove the keeper. Then pull it through.
I have some good used cables if you need one. Email me if interested.WATERCRAFT SERVICES. PROVIDING THE RESIDENTS OF HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREAS WITH QUALITY WORK ON THEIR PWC AT A FAIR PRICE.
