Quick question on greasing jet pump on 85 JS550?

How do i do it? Isn't it an 8mm hex screw that takes the cone off and there should be a grease fitting right to put the grease gun on right? How many shots of grease? and is the normal marine grease okay for it? Thanks

correct, just remove that rear black plastic cone with a 8mm allen wrench.
std marine grease is fine, just be sure NOT to over do it. go slow, and pump until you feel some resistance. if you put too much in, you can damage the front pump seal. zig

I already greased the zerk fitting on the driveshaft in the engine compartment. So after I grease the jet pump I am good to go for greasing?

I looked back by the nozzle of the pump and did not see the hex nut. I see the black cone in the middle. Do I need to take the 4 1mm bolts out first to get to the cone? sorry I am very new to jet skis in general and need help.

no, the center of the cone is a black plastic piece that screws off with a 8mm hex wrench. then under it is a grease zerk. give it a few pumps, and you're good to go. zig

I pumped about 4 or 6 pumps into it is that enough? I really did not feel any real resistence. What do you think?

boy, thats a tough call, you don't want to over grease it, and "blow out" your front seals, but, you don't want it to be dry either. give it a few more pumps, just go slow. zig
