  • Pump Cavitation w/ trim flat

Rebuilt pump on my '00 RX (carb model 215 hrs) over the winter, new pump internals & wear ring, driveline from hull seals to pto looked good so they stayed. today was first day out and pump had real bad cavatation with trim flat, very little trim down and none w/ trim up. gonna pull pump and reinstall, possibly renew carbon seal & verify hull seal. not my first pump install by no means, but first i've ever had a problem with.
just thought i'd ask if anyone ever been here and done that - similar problem. just seemed like a wierd failure.
    thanks

Makes sure the seal between the pump and the pump support plate is a good seal. Also, you may need to remove the rideplate and grate and reseal the front portion of the ride plate.

If this does not solve the problem, then the complete pump support will need to come off so that you can resel the pump support/ride shoe into the hull with "The Right Stuff" sealant.
