  • Sea Doo 96 GTX rubber bumper question

What is the best method, sealant etc. to keep the bumpers from popping back out after installing on the drive shaft?

They pop out if there is any grease in the holes. Use a new bumper pressed into a clean hole ( clean with brake fluid).

Some guys stick an icepick through the center of the bumpers to make a hole so the air can pass out from behind the bumper, but a new bumper and a clean hole works for me everytime.

Thanks Bill, I will try that. One more question, I understand in order to align the engine, it is best to remove the drive shaft. My jet pump is out but I did not remove the drive shaft. What is the best way to remove. I tried compressing the rubber boot by hand and can' t seem to get it far enough back?

Because you removed the pump, when you try to remove the carbon seal, the driveshaft moves back when you pull back on the seal collar. If the pump were put back in, the collar would move back far enough to remove the circlip on the driveshaft.
