  • 98 XP-L Oil Filter!

As it has 300+ Hours I think its time to change the oil filter in the front under the 2 Black air hoses. I,m going to put a small hose pincher on each side of the filter line- Then replace and zip tie the new filter in- then take of the pincher nearest the oil tank- let the oil fill the new filter good and then take the pincher off between the filter and the engine-then fluff the hoses a little were the pinchers were on the hose. Is this an acceptabe way to do this.
Also WHERE is the air going down those 2 Big air hoses in the front of the hull coming from. It appears to suction from somewhere- like the grilled vents on the side under the instrument panel?

    Re: 98 XP-L Oil Filter!

300 hours? Wow ! Long time for a filter change......... Manual calls for changining the fuel and oil filters every 100 hours or seasonally.

Let the air bubbles run up the line to the oil tank, making sure none go into the oil pump ( or it won't work without bleeding it).

The bilge vent lines ( big black hoses ) are to vent heavy fumes ( gasoline, sulfric acid fumes) from the bilge to the outside of the boat through the hood cover to keep you from blowing yourself to smitherines when you start the watercraft, should there be a leak that you do not know about in the fuel system or battery.
