    YOUR THOUGHTS
    I HAVE A 1997 GP 1200 AND JUST BOUGHT (1 WEEK AGO) A CLEAN 1997 XP 800

THOUGHT I WAS HAPPY BUT WENT TO GET A DOUBLE TRAILER AND A GUY IS SELLING (OWNER OF DEALER) A 2004 GP 1200 WITH 10 HOURS FOR 4,000.
iS THIS OFFER TOO GOOD TO PASS UP? DONT NEED 3 SHOULD I BUY AND SELL THE XP? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON A 1997 XP 800

    THANKS

    Hey,

The 97 XP is ok. It is a little underpowered for that hull. In fact one of the water craft mags came out with an article in 1998 stating "revenge of the 110 hp weakling" or something to that extent when the 1998 XP came out. The 2004 GP for $4000 sound like an excellent deal. Make sure you get it checked out or get a warranty. You could probably sell the XP for $3000. Which would mean you got the 04 Gp for only another $1000. would that be great or what?

the dealer was wrong it was not an 2004 but a 2001, does not make me feel to comfortable about him if he either does not know the year or lied to me when i spoke to him. I had the xp out it is a bit under powered especioally compared to my 97 gp 1200. i also found that the trim is broke well i guess i will need to take it to get looked at. i wish i would have known that the 98 had a significant power boost would have bought a 98

You may want to reconsider this dealer. He should know his products a little better and try a sell you a watercraft that is not ready to go. A little hope regarding the 97 XP. Although it does not have the 951cc engine the 800cc engine is suppossed to be more reliable. It is suppossed to due between 57-58. Try it out and see how you like it.
