  • Slight power loss at WOT...

'99 XL760...Ski gets most speed at about 80 percent throttle. When throttle is pulled fulley, a slight decrease in power is noted. Been trying to adjust mixture.Leaned idle very little . I am assuming that there are basiccaly only two fuel adjustments. One for idle and the upper screw for anything after that. Have upper screws turned out about 3.25 turns. Too much....more...?. Ski does run very well in every aspect. Just can't seem to get that last bit for WOT. Are bigger carbs the answer?

You are WAY over rich, and are in serious danger of your screw falling completely out of the carb! They onyl screw out 3 turns!! I'll get you the stock settings int he morning if no one posts them by then...do you have any mods? After that, read our Carb Tuning guide on the technical section!

Dude the screw is gonna fall out if it hasnt already. your highs should be at 1 1/2 turns + - 1/2 turn. sounds ike youre way rich on your settings. how do the plugs look. If your plugs are balck on the tips youre TOO rich. turn them in and you want to se a chocolate brown color. start the tune with new plugs when you do the high speed testing start the ski run it at top speed and then chop the throttle and look at the plugs. Dont sit there and idle cause that will screw up the reading for the top speed run. do the same up to 1/3 throttle to get a low end but it sounds like you have the low end dialed in
