    I was wondering if anyone knows the torque specs and tighting sequence for the head on a 99 gp 800. i heard that these are very sensative. thank you *Randy*

    No more so than any other engine, nothing special. Inside out in a criss-cross pattern. 11 then 22 ft.-lbs.

      If you are dealing with a stock head...it should all be labeled right on the head for you.Take note to the different shapes :)

        I have the stock and is says 34.3nM torque, how does that translate to American standards?

          Nm x 8.85 = Lb-in

          So 34.3 x 8.85 = 303.55 inch lbs

          303.55 inch lbs = 25.3 Ft lbs

          And follow the number sequence by the bolt holes marked on the head.I would start by just snugging them all until they contact head,then run them at about 20 ft lbs...then your final torque.That way you torque the head down nice and evenly.
