  • MSX 140 Hull

I just noticed a chip (dime-sized) on the under side of my hull. The fiberglass is visible, does anyone know what type of coating is on the hull. Does it need to be repaired, will it be susceptible to water damage?

Yes any damage like that must be repaired, unless you want even bigger and more expensive repairs in the near future. I don't recall what type of hull that ski used - but if you can clearly see fibers, it's a fiberglass/gelcoat hull. My best suggestion is to take it to an experienced glass repair shop. The other hull type is sheet molded compound (SMC) which is just painted. It isn't fiberous however.
