  • remove exhaust to access carbs? 800

    just wondering..
i have done many carb jobs in the past.. mainly seadoo and i got a couple of gp800cc 1999 yamahas that require a rebuild on carbs..
does the second half of the pipe need to be removed to get the carbs on and off.. or can i squeek by with out removing it... it just seems like abigger hassle..
I know on the last 1200 i did it was required to remove the pipe.
i just wanted a quick tip before i dive in tomorrow. thanks

Remove the exhaust. Not that big of a deal and worth it when removing / connecting fuel lines, oil lines, cables, hoses, torque-ing the manifold bolts. Holding the base gasket in place while installing the carb rack....etc....etc... (You did get a new manifold base gasket right?, the old one can not be re-used)
