  • Temp alarm 96 XP

Just aquired a 96 XP with a possible water temp problem. At cruising speed everything seems fine. At idle or under 3000 rpm the temp light & alarm comes on. Not sure why. Is there a problem???

How hot is it? Warm to the touch or will water sizzle off the motor?

That happens when there is too much clearance between the impellor and the wear ring. Not enough water pressure at low rpm.

        It's not hot at all...

        Bill,
Is this a problem or a winter fix up?

It is a problem. Figure out what you need and fix it.

Bent or worn down impellor or worn out wear ring, or both?

          Back flush the cooling lines.
