WHY HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT SBT HAS QUALITY ISSUES. I DONT WANT TO RACE JUST WANT A RELIABLE WAVE JUMPING MACHINE. THE PROBLEM IS YOU GUYS USE SBT PARTS SO I CANT JUDGE THE QUALITY OF THE PARTS YOU USE WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER REBUILDERS. ITS LIKE COMPARING A KENMORE TO OTHER BRANDS. ARE THERE ANY THIRD PARTY TEST DONE ON YOUR PARTS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP.

BY THE WAY I JUST ORDERED AN ENGINE, NOT TRYING TO BASH YOU GUYS JUST CURIOUS

    Re: Sbt Bashing

Every engine we sell (50,000+) is a third party test. I have no idea why anyone tells you things - you'll have to ask them. We gets hundreds of orders a week for parts. Inspecting our parts is as easy as clicking a mouse or picking up the phone. I'm sure that if you post in the appropriate section you will get all the feedback you need from our customers.

Ever noticed how many enemies Walmart has? The SBT bashing phenomena stems from the same fear. SBT dominates the PWC engine remanufacturing business and this makes a lot of small companies very nervous. Small companies cannot match the price, delivery, quality, and warranty offered by SBT. If you study where the bashing comes from, it’s normally a very small group of guys running “mom and pop shops” who are struggling to make a living rebuilding a handful of PWC engines each year. It’s like the small hardware store trying to compete with Home Depot – at the end of the day, it’s just not possible. So if you can’t compete, the only option is to bash.

I say let the equipment speak for itself. Watch the tour video and you will see alot of modern equipment used and alot of testing before shipping. No-Fault warrenty? Would they offer it if they didnt stand behind their work? I think not. While I havent had the pleasure of doing buisness with SBT yet, I will as soon as I need something since everyone here speaks highly of them.

The people that are bashing are doing so because they are intimidated. I bet a majority of them are dealers or financially tied to a dealer. Sucks when your pants are getting ripped off by someone who is redefining the PWC market. Theses bashers better hope that SBT doesnt decide to go into the motorcycle or ATV markets.

I had a lot of people tell me the risk of SBT motors wasn''t worth it.

I only had 1 friend who *actually* purchased a (SeeDoo) SBT motor; and his analysis on the motor and customer service didn't sound all that bad.

When I had my ski appraised for repair, the total bill was "estimated" to be $3000 (assuming no other issues). I opted not to have it fixed since I only paid $3000 for the ski! I asked the tech at the marina what kind of work they would have done, and they told me they would buy a motor from SBT and replace.

I went for the premium (2yr) engine. I just couldn't see how having a non-warranty rebuild from "someone else" was any better than than a 2yr warantee from a remanufacturer.

After I looked at the warranty and the pricing from SBT, it simply didn't make sense to do anything else. So far I am happy; my SBT engine runs and it "feels" just like the stock one I had.

SBT offers what no other company will or could , a very cheep { PRICED } engine with a NO FOULT warranty . dealers dont like them becouse they cut into there over priced engines with there 90 day warranty that is the hardest thing in the world to get coverd even if its a real failure due to a defect . theres a lot of people out there who have no clue on the proper way of installing a engine neverless fixing what blewup the old engine , many SBT engines die quick due to that reasion alone . ive seen many that were in no way SBTs foult but SBT got the blame and also covered the installers mistake by giving them a new engine and as many engines they need for 1 or now 2 years . as with any PWC failure 99% of the time the problem lies within the last person to work on it . you cant find a more friendly company then SBT .

Jeez.... What's all this bashing about?

SBT, especially via this website, has been outstanding, from my perspective, in providing technical help with my foray into pwc's. Someone here has given me a straightforward, solid answer to all of my questions, for the last 3 years.

I sent a work associate to sBT last year, who ultimately bought a new Yamaha 1200 motor from them, and it has run fine. He was very pleased with the whole deal.

The continuity of excellent advice, etc, from here has been a big plus in our decision to buy the 05 Yamaha that we got last month.

I give SBT high marks for service, as, everytime I call, I get a real person that knows what they are talking about, and my stuff arrives in a couple of days. My Wednesday head gaskets arrived today!

I have dealt with with lots of mail order hobby places over the years, and SBT is right up there with the best. Kinda like Holcomb Motorsports for 5.0 Ford stuff, TCI for performance transmissions, Quadratec for Jeeps, Summit Racing for everything else, and my local Carquest for off the shelf stuff. I hope they keep it up. Kirsten helps too.

And, yes, this redneck just ordered a pop off tool.

                        Re: Sbt Bashing

I have installed 43 sbt motors had trouble with one and it was not sbt that caused the problem, the customer removed the carb choke plates and not the plastic bushings, They went through the motor SBT replaced the motor no problem.
Their is a small shop in Boca Raton Slamming SBT, They said SBT has 30 to 40 motors a week returned what a crock. one of my buds bought a motor their and we changed the head to find SBT pistons in it,

                          Re: Sbt Bashing

I have been building watercraft engines for my customers for a very long time.

For the past 5 years or so, I let the customer make the ultimate decision of what motor he wants after fully explaining the pros and cons of me building one or getting one from SBT and installing it.

9 out of 10 choose the SBT engine because of the initial price of the engine and the warranty that SBT gives them.

I have had a few SBT motors come back for warranty replacements. Not usually the fault of SBT though.

As with any marine product, water is the biggest enemy of metal parts and the most common reason for an engine failure. A close second is dirty carbs. The last time I checked, there was no water in the engine packages when they arrived here, and the carbs are not part of SBT's engine package.

Can an engine be built with stronger parts ? Certainly. But the cost to the consumer is about doubled or more, and the warranty is much less than the SBT warranty.

Yep, for a rec. skier with a few mechanical skills, and know how to read instructions, I'd say SBT all the way. No Offense bill

                            I'll be ordering one soon.
