  • Trouble Pulling Rotary Valve Shaft

I'm in the process of replacing a rotary valve shaft, but I'm having trouble getting it out. I removed the C-clip and fabricated a puller. However, I've broken 3 bolts trying to move the shaft and it doesn't seem to want to budge. Is there a trick to this?

    Use better bolts :p

Well, it wasn't a matter of better bolts, but a matter of clearance. The puller I fabricated wasn't deep enough and the shaft was bottoming out against it. After building another puller, it came right out. And the brass gear was shredded! Ouch.

Now you need a complete RV shaft and gear assembly. You will need to get all the brass out of the oil reseviour and oil lines and from in the crankshaft cennter gear. Be sure the center gear is still centered.
