  • Reverse on 1998 Tigershark 1000L

Im having a problem with the reverse on a tigershark 1000. When you pull up the lever to engage reverse and you give it throttle it slowly goes forward. I'm thinking its something with the linkage setting. Im pretty new to this area so any help is appreciated. thanks

They are hard to use on that model and the 99's. I would suggest not useing it and get used to docking without it.

You can check to make sure when you pull the lever that the reverse bucket is locked down if not adjust that cable so it does. Now check to see if it will lock in the up position or it will bounce down while in forward and slow you down.

I've got 2 98's with the same prob. They seem to work better if you idle in reverse.

I hear the linkage is problematic. If I'm not mistaken you're not supposed to go faster than idle anyway in reverse. I'm probably getting a '94 750 from my sister in a week or two :)
