  • breaking in engine on 96 xp?

Ok, so i've read the sticky on breakin in a new engine. but i still have questions.

it says taht there shoudl not be full throttle operation for the first 10 gallons of gas? but it says after the first gas tank, you can touch 100% when some gas tanks are over 15 gallons?

    i have a 96 xp w/ a 9 gallon gas tank. how should i break it in?

i was thinking about following the same exact instructions:

Then begin varying the throttle position up and down, up to 20% throttle for a half hour. Then come back and let the engine cool off completely - it should be a good 30 min break. After it cools down, you may now ride it up to 50% throttle for another half hour or so. Then come back again and let it completely cool down again. Now you can go out and ride up to 90% throttle. Continue this for the remainder of the 10 gallons, never holding one throttle position for more than a few seconds

is 10 gallons considered a gas tank? i'm still very confused. can someone please explain this.

dont hold the throttle in one spot to long and keep WOT runs short for the first tank . other then that have fun . your ring seat in the first hr of running . theres many differnt ways people breakin a engine . if the engine is good it will last if somthing is going to fail it will no matter what you do . i myself have always run hard { not abuse } but run hard and seem to have very fast skis :-) after your tank of premix do some plug chops and make sure your running good if so ride away :-)
