  • Argh... Removing the driveshaft, impeller, pump...

How the heck do you remove the driveshaft, impeller and jet pump? I've got the Venturi off but the pump, impeller, and shaft are almost glued on :). I took off the four nuts holding the pump on. Any ideas? I'm trying to take the engine out.

Tap around the outside of the housing with a rubber mallet. It is probably held on by gasket material.

okay I tried that and knocked it loose but not free. IT will wiggle but wont come out. Am I missing something? I took the clamps off of the shaft by the flywheel...

I just replace the impeller housing on my GP1200. Had the same difficulty. Just pound on it with a rubber mallet or similar, it probably has the red loctite on it!

Re: Argh... Removing the driveshaft, impeller, pump...

There is a splined joint connection at the pump and at the pto. Both should slide off but not always. Disconnect the rubber boot at the pto that holds it onto the driveshaft. If you search the forums you can get more info on pulling the driveshaft/ pump off.

have had similar problems w\several ski's ,96gti,94gts,97gts,etc,etc. made bracket out of 2x4 and 3/8 piece of steel, designed to fit 140 mm pump and have waited days for it to break loose by just turning on jig for days at the time. they can be stubborn buggers ! good luck! I GOT IT... ACTUALLY, my dad got it... but I was there. We took the chain from the trailer and used the bolts from the venturi and made a loop. Then took a metal pipe and pryed it over the bumper. Came right out.

Thanks for the info! Engine is out and now I can begin to clean the inside of the jet ski from all the oil.
