  • 1998 gsx starter cuts off

When trying to start my 1998 gsx limited, I hold the start button and the engine will turn for some time and stop. I have to press the start button again to get it engine to turn. Eventually it will start, after a few tries. The starter bendix was replaced. It had several broken teeth. It worked good for 3 days after it was replaced, and now has same problem again.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Fred

Go over every ground wire and make sure the terminals and cables are not corroded. Install a brand new battery.

Thought I'd let you know what I found. The +12 v signal leaving the mpem to engage the starter solenoid was going off and on. I assume the mpem is bad for that signal. I just added a relay the was energized by the ground from the start button. then I just sent +12 v to that relay to engage the starter relay.
